for the moments worth framing & filming 

when Bella was 10 years old, she had a hyper-fixation of sorts for Saturday Night Live, a show she’d not seen nor was allowed to see (aside from a select few sketches her parents felt okay showing her). she vividly remembers her parents watching The Women of SNL - a compilation of the finest sketches starring the women of SNL over the years. a simple concept that made Bella say, “whoa,” even at 10. “that was cool.” from that point forward, Bella started consuming as much SNL and these female comedians as possible.

years later, Bella became an acting major at ASU, where she met the most amazing creatives of all genders. but she just couldn’t shake the fact that each film set she’d work on, she’d notice the same thing: almost every non-acting role on set was filled by men. Bella observed that there were lots of women in her film school; she wondered if the women were maybe not getting the same opportunities to fill key roles that the men were. and she wanted to challenge that.

and just like that, Funny For A Girl was born. Bella’s senior capstone project would become a multimedia sketch comedy show (á la SNL) that was created entirely by women. not mostly—entirely. Sav was the first person Bella turned to when it was time to get started. She stage managed the entire production and helped bring the vision to life. there was no other person who would have been a more perfect fit!!

putting it all together was NOT easy (shocker, we know!) but after months of preparation, we managed to assemble a film production crew for each individually filmed sketch, along with an entire theatre crew for the live show. all women. it was the most glorious weekend, a perfect culmination of our theatre educations.

the thing was, it didn’t feel finished quite yet…which brings us to…

Bella called up Sav when she knew it was time to bring Funny For A Girl back—somehow, some way. we decided that despite the amazing experience of the original project, it’s not necessarily something we’re looking to replicate with the creation of Funny For A Girl Productions. the all-female crew was an incredibly empowering element of the project, but with our emerging work we’re leaning into what we feel is the heart of the original project’s ✨magic✨: empowerment through collaboration.

from the collaborative and inspiring spirit of the original Funny For A Girl, we’ve built a media production house that serves as our own creative platform. we want to share it with others—self-defined artists, those who just want to make great art, and anyone in between.

we do a little bit of everything—we take photos, we make films, we help companies make branded content they love. and, importantly, we also make fun stuff that WE love!

tbh, we just love to create! and we’d love to make something with you <3
